The talk is entitled "Identification of Difficult Species in the Western Palearctic" and is presented by Ken Shaw. <br /><br />Ken Shaw is the current President of the SOC and a well known ornithologist and speaker.  He has formerly held various positions at the RSPB including spells at Aberdeen and Vane Farm. He leads ornithological groups to various parts of the Western Palearctic.<br /><br />We meet as usual at the Sportsman's Club, 11 Queen's Road, Aberdeen (just 2 doors from the Dutch Mill pub) at 7.30pm. Bar available. They are in various plumages and Kumlien's Gull has been seen among them occasionally (not by me for certain though!).  They come readily to bread (as do the seals ...). The two males that have emerged since (another one today, just about surviving a dunking in the aquarium!) have changed colour and markings to suggest Blue-Tailed as the likely species. It's still a wonder how they've got here and survived in an aquarium tank.<br /><br />JW]]>

Presumably were resident on the weed introduced late last year though what they have been feeding on I have no idea.
