Fleeting visit from a tree sparrow today here at Tullochvenus, but they have been here all winter, visiting both mine and my neighbours bird tables.

That's good news Ken.  Two pairs bred in my garden and reared two broods (I think) this year, but I haven't seen much of them since early July.  I'd assumed that they were finding food more easily away from the garden, but maybe they just went over the hill to Ballogie!

Hi Paul

Do these things appear inland in Winter?

I've got about 30+ in the garden near Auchnagatt today.

Cheers

Iain

Hi Iain

Yes they remain inland in winter, although the current hard weather may make them more likely to turn up in good numbers in gardens - I have at least nine in my garden at the moment.

It's worth submitting your record as it is a good count.  The largest flock I've seen this year was 70 near Huntly in November.
