Hi All

I've created a web application based on OS OpenSpace (1:50000 landranger is one of the base layer maps) which can be found at http://www.e-dat.info/OSGridRef.aspx.

This covers the whole of Britain and returns grid references in varying degrees of accuracy for a highlighted square (selected by moving the mouse around the map). There's also a measurement control which allows, strangely enough, measurement of areas or linear features. It should all be fairly self-explanatory but let me know if you have any problems with using the thing.

Cheers

I've now added support for Google maps, so it's now possible to view aerial maps with this. The projection and zoom levels are slightly different for OS maps and Google, but the overlying grid is positioned for the British National Grid in all instances so you should be able to fairly easily translate between maps.

Any problems, let me know.

Hi

I've updated this thing to include a grid ref checker which allows you to enter a batch (up to 100) grid refs and plot them directly onto a map. This is for a quick check to visually see if these things are falling in the correct place or whether any grid refs are 'unexpected'. Click on the Check Grid Refs title on the left hand pane of the page at

You can copy and paste a heap of Grid Refs direct from a column from most spreadsheets/tables or you can manually type them in (a bit more tedious).

There is some help on the page as well if you get stuck.

Cheers

Iain
