14 oystercatchers at Loch of Skene on saturday 21/2 - standing on the ice and wondering that possibly they'd got the date wrong!

I had 30 Lapwings in the field by my house yesterday and there are now plenty of birds singing.
Today was the first without a frost since mid December and we got above 5 C for the first time since then ---don't hold your breath but maybe Spring is on its way. Wheatears in Scilly and Cornwall. I've still got snow tyres on the car just in case!!! |

Just this minute heard my first Oystercatchers of the spring flying over (17 days later than last year). We still have more or less continuous snow cover here but it has been thawing since yesterday and a few bare patches are starting to appear.
