A Rough Legged Buzzard was identified at 6 o'clock this evening. It was gliding and hovering at 300/350 feet above Pitcaple/Whiteford. I first saw the bird six days ago in the same locality, and on Sunday between Drimmies and Conglass farms. |

Bird again seen between Pitcaple and Whiteford this afternoon between 3pm and 5pm, hunting over rough ground next to a small wood. Frequently hovered and dropped like a stone into the long grass. Didn't see if it had caught anything. At one stage it was mobbed by a male peregrine (which looked very small by comparison.
Bird was well marked on its underside with classic carple patches and dark banding against white underwing. Tail white streaked dark brown wiith black tail band. Beautiful bird!
