Is anyone out there able to identify the bright red wild rose growing at the edge of Brunt Wood by the A981 on the right going South from Memsie cross roads?

In autumn it has large oval hips

Hi,
This looks like a seedling from Rosa moyesii 'Geranium'. When I first saw this post without a photo I thought it was probably a Rugosa rose. I have added a photo of Rosa moyesii 'Geranium'

Hi Chris,
Thanks, I think you are probably right, particularly looking at the hips. This is the closest match I have come across.
Cheers
