There was a steady stream of Swifts moving south down the Kincardineshire coast all afternoon.  I counted 216 in one 10-minute period, so there must have been 1000s in total.  Also probably 100s of Sand Martins going south amongst them.

There were loads of Swifts at Loch of Skene yesterday evening - my best estimate was 2500, but there can't be many birds more difficult to try counting!  Birds of Scotland suggests that these will be largely from the Aberdeen population - does anybody know whether they've done particularly well in Aberdeen this summer?

I also estimated 600 Sand Martins at Skene, but there were just 1 House Martin & a few Swallows as far as I could see.

Good Swift numbers today over S. Aberdeen (many very high up). Owing to their habit of zipping around difficult to estimate true numbers, but certainly a couple of hundred so far. 1 Common Buzzard & 2 Sparrowhawk also.

I had hundreds of Swallows and Martins past Longside today (also a few Swifts), mostly heading SW.
