Reptiles & Amphibians - Lizards

There are only two species of lizard in Scotland:

The Viviparous Lizard

Relatively common in dry heathland, away from the coast.

The Slow Worm

The legless lizard, sometimes mistaken for a snake. Not a worm, and not slow!
Widely distributed but rather scarce. Found in grassy heathland and woodland, mainly in the uplands and the west of Scotland.
